The solution centered on implementing a modern BigCommerce platform, featuring a new self-service B2B portal that eliminated manual order entry. A critical integration with ASA's Acumatica ERP system was established to provide real-time inventory visibility and control, automating updates and preventing stockouts. This new, scalable solution streamlined operations for both physical and digital products, creating a more efficient and user-friendly experience for ASA's diverse B2B and B2C customers.

How could Aviation Supplies & Academics overcome the constraints of an outdated ecommerce system, paper-based processes and manual order management, to deliver physical and digital products across diverse B2B and B2C channels?

Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA) brought on Mira Commerce to navigate these challenges, implementing a comprehensive digital transformation centered on BigCommerce. The core of our solution involved building a self-service distributor portal utilizing BigCommerce's native B2B tools. This replaced cumbersome, paper-based workflows and manual order entry with a streamlined digital experience, empowering distributors to manage their own orders efficiently. This shift not only saved ASA significant time and reduced errors but also freed their team to focus on strategic initiatives rather than administrative tasks.

A critical component of this transformation was achieving real-time visibility and control over ASA's extensive inventory. BigCommerce's integration with their Acumatica ERP provided this, ensuring inventory levels updated automatically, reordering triggers responded to demand, and product availability reflected instantly across all sales channels. We collaborated closely with ASA's Acumatica developers and utilized custom middleware to maintain a fluid data exchange, even with a legacy component still running on their previous platform, ensuring uninterrupted operations throughout the transition. This robust connection between their ecommerce storefront and backend systems eliminated manual updates, minimized stockouts and overselling, and created a smoother experience for both customers and internal teams.

The BigCommerce implementation delivered substantial improvements across both B2B and B2C channels. Distributors gained the convenience of self-service ordering, access to custom pricing, clear order history visibility, and simplified reordering. For individual customers, the platform provided enhanced product discovery, a better mobile shopping experience, a streamlined checkout process, and improved access to digital products. Additionally, ASA transitioned ebook delivery to Kotobee, modernizing their digital fulfillment infrastructure for a truly seamless customer experience.
